The Project Story
Capturing the Amalfi Coast from perspectives most people never see.
The project began with an obsession. After watching Netflix's Ripley — a masterclass in black-and-white cinematography set along the Italian coast — Sean knew exactly how this campaign should open. The monochrome sequences at the start of the film are a direct homage to that series: stripped of colour, focused entirely on light, shadow, and the architecture of the coastline. That creative instinct is what DJI was looking for.
DJI commissioned BTL Media to create the launch campaign for their Air 3S drone — a product built for cinematic aerial photography. The brief was simple: show what this drone can do in the hands of a filmmaker who knows how to use it. The location had to match the ambition.
We chose the Amalfi Coast. Over four days, a team of four — Sean flying in to lead production with three local crew members — captured the coastline from every angle. From the sea on a yacht cutting through the Mediterranean, to the cliffside villages stacked against the mountains, to the winding roads that connect them.
Between takes, we experienced what makes this place unforgettable — the view of Positano from the water, the delizia al limone that only exists here, the pizza that tastes different when the dough has been made the same way for generations. The Amalfi Coast isn't just a backdrop. It's a character. And that energy made it into every frame.
The final film was published on DJI's official YouTube channel as part of the Air 3S global product launch.
